The Bourne Legacy "Brief" Review

The Bourne movies have been pretty successful thus far and made a pretty good trilogy.  Does the Bourne Legacy live up to the first three?  Answer: no.  Film Crazy Adam went to see The Bourne Legacy believing he was going to see a summer spy action movie.  Thought he was.  Instead he doesn't really know what he saw.  It might've been a movie about spys...maybe?  It might've had something to do with Jason Bourne...maybe?  It might've been good...maybe?  This was the biggest let down of the summer - a bigger let down then hearing that GI Joe Retaliation was moved to March.  This movie made promises and didn't keep a single one.  The worst part about this movie: it was boring.  They made a boring spy.  How do you do that?  How do you make a boring spy movie.  Seriously, how do you f*%k that up?  Spy movies by their nature are thrillers.  There was NOTHING thrilling about this movie.  There wasn't much action, and when there was it was repetitive and/or hard to follow.  There was NO tension in this movie, dramatic or otherwise.  This movie wasn't worth it.

And upon further research, this movie has NOTHING to do with the Bourne series. The first trilogy was based off books by the same names. There is a book called "The Bourne Legacy" which follows "The Bourne Ultimatum." But that book stars Jason Bourne and the events of this movie literally have NOTHING to do with that book. This movie is a lie!!!

Total Recall "Brief" Review

A new rendition of the short story "We can remember it for you wholesale" has been brought to Film Crazy Adam's attention.  Is this real?  What is real?  Film Crazy Adam remembers seeing this movie in theaters and remember seeing another version of this movie back in the 90's.  Is that possible?  Or is it just an artificial memory that was implanted to make me think Film Crazy Adam's done this.  You see, this is where things become a problem and Film Crazy Adam becomes even more crazy.
In all honesty and fairness, this movie was a good watch.  It harkened back to the cheesy Total Recall with Schwarzenegger, but at the same time did something totally new and different.  This movie is a remake of the 1990 film of the same name, it's a retelling of the same story used as source material.  Film Crazy Adam recommends this movie if you're looking for a competently done sci-fi movie.

The Dark Knight Rises "Brief" Review

Have you check out "The Dark Knight Rises"?  No?  Then what are you still reading this for?  Go and see it!  Yes, it's that good.  If you haven't seen "The Dark Knight" you're going to be a bit lost, I guarantee.  In light of recent events, I decided to keep this review toned down.  But that doesn't mean the reviews stop.  Oh no.  There's a reason why "DKR" was #2 on my Top 11 List.  As much as I want to talk about the movie this is one of those movies that I feel someone will hunt me down if I spoil it before they see it.  WAY more than, say, telling someone the score of the Super Bowl or World Series before they can watch it on DVR.  So, here's my review.  And go see "The Dark Knight Rises."  Do it.

Amazing Spider-Man "Brief" and Happy 4th everyone!!

I wish everyone a happy and safe 4th of July.  I just got back from the Astana Action Film Festival and am really beat.  I needed to unwind BIG TIME after a crazy time in Astana and a 20+ hour flight back home.  So I went to check out "The Amazing Spider-man."  And I'll let my review speak for itself since I'm really beat.  Happy Independence Day America!  More to come soon.

Avengers "Brief" Review

I realize now that I there are a few "briefs" that I've done that I have on youtube, but not on my blog.  I shall rectify this right now and but my first "brief" from my Top 11 summer lineup - The Avengers.

This...movie...was...Awesome.  This is the Ultimate summer blockbuster movie and easily the best movie I've ever seen.  Marvel has their 5hit together when it comes to movies.  What the hell is DC's problem (aside from the Chris Nolan Batman)?  5 movies!  5 movies that were leading up to this and all of them were freakin great too.  Go see this movie!  If you're a man, go see this movie.  If you're a chick that likes action or comics, go see this movie!  This is the embodiment of the word awesome!

Disney's Brave "Brief" Review

There really isn't anything I can say more about this movie then I said in the video review.  Disney and Pixar have done it again and made just a really great movie.  And like I said in my Top 11 summer lineup, they always these movies always have depth to them, there's always a really good wholesome message tucked in there.  And Disney/Pixar has a way of putting the message in without beating you over the head with it.

There were a few messages in this one.  The two biggest of which were - parents and kids need to learn to understand each other.  Believe it or not, kids, that your parents aren't trying to make your life miserable.  You don't understand what they're trying to do for you because you lack the wisdom and experience that they have.  At the same time, parents, you need to learn to understand your kids point of view.  You were once in their shoes too and you should remember that "because I told you so" and "I know better because I'm the parent" is unfair and lame from a kid's point of view to get them to do what you want.

But enough about that, this movie really is a great movie.  One of the top contender for best movie of the year for me.  I don't care who you are, what your situation, if you have kids or not, you should go see this movie.  It'll make you feel good and be glad you have what little family you have (as long as it's not the type of family that abuses drugs and stuff).  Go see this movie!

Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter "Brief" Review

Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter.  Before I start about this movie, let's look at this title and REALLY think about it for a second before preceding into pre/judging this movie.  It's called "Abraham Lincoln" "Vampire Hunter."  ...Vampire Hunter.  What are your first thoughts, right now, after reading that title?  What are you thinking about?  Because if you're first thought is to take this movie seriously and you're expecting something along the lines of Citizen Kane, then you're an idiot.  The trailer and the title tell you that this movie is going to be crazy and that you can't take it too seriously.

That being said, this movie was awesome!  I didn't say it was great, I said it was awesome.  You can be awesome and terrible.  Think about any failed stunt that someone ever tried to do.  You can fail (ie, you're terrible at it) but you can fail spectacularly (ie, "that was awesome!").  I'm not saying ALVH was a failure, it just wasn't Shakespeare.  It was pretty silly and ridiculous at times, but it was also pretty good at times.  Overall, a good movie.  I got to watch a movie about a president using an ax to kill vampires.  If that doesn't sound awesome then you won't like this movie.  If you've had a long week, a fight with your significant other, totaled your car, got fired, or all of the above; go see this movie.  This is a movie that will definitely take your mind off things.

But in a good way.  Not like Prometheus, where it took your mind of things but pissed you the hell off.  Film Crazy Adam recommends you go see Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter.  It's worth a watch.

Rock of Ages "Brief" Review

This is kind of crazy, for me at least, to be checking out this movie.  This isn't the type of movie I generally like.  You know, musicals.  Especially not musicals based off Broadway plays.  But, whatever.  It was in my Top 11, so I gotta review.  Rock of Ages was...it had good music.
